那么为什么要说dog days？

Dog days源于天狼星“Sirius”，又叫狗星“dog star”。天狼星是大犬座中最亮的恒星，也是全天最亮的恒星。16世纪罗马天文学家发现，在每年最炎热的这段时间，天狼星总是伴随着太阳同时升起，他们认为是天狼星导致了炎热的夏天，而天狼星的别号就是“The Dog Star”，民间就用了这个通俗的说法“Dog days”。英语中，把北半球7月初至8月中这段时期称为“Dog days of Summer”。
